I thoroughly enjoyed my downtime on purpose to rejuvenate. I am so easily distracted. If only I could build a business around my distractions then I would be…. For some reason that song gets stick in my head and find it weirdly empowering, n that fact that u do too is awesome!! It will forever remind me of this great episode. Thanks for the episode. Thanks for asking about the top 3 personal priorities. Easier to head prioritize them if I know what they are!

Personal priorites: Do my laundry! Have 1 hour of quiet time every day. Read more. Wow did I ever need to hear this! Man that song is going to become part of my life now haha. Marie, great tips to saying no and reanalyzing all the things that are on the table to either be distractions or priorities.

This made me cry and laugh at the same time. Thanks to Angela for asking an a great question and thanks to Marie for the incredible answer.

Loved this one, Marie and Team Forleo! Top 3 Business Priorities: 1. Keep tuning in to my intuition. Do what feels right for my business, when it feels right. Just had my own a-ha with that one! Top 3 Personal Priorities 1. Do what feels right in my life, when it feels right. Repeat numbers 1 and 2. Top 3 Things to Say No To: 1. Yep—that about covers it! See number 1. That video you made in B-School stuck in my head forever!! Thanks Marie! Once again great advice! Produce product for an upcoming craft sale.

Prepare for a regular YouTube show I want to put out in the new year. Put all the new product I have into my Etsy store. Personal priorities: 1. I NEED to get some exercise in each day. Get rid of an accumulation of clutter in my house which makes taking care of the house more manageable and therefor more time to do the above.

Marie — your episode today just happened at the right time. As a new online gallery owner, I have a hard time saying No to artists since I respect them all.

You rock! Launching Retreats 3. Networking and growing my sales. Move more daily, short walks to get out from behind my computer 2. Love more — give my husband the time and attention he deserves 3. Have more fun. Narrowing down my social media channels Instagram and video 2. Meeting with everyone who asks to meet with me. Trying to do it all. Okay everyone, at the end of each video, who also says this in unison with Marie?

I sing it frequently. Personally, however, I need to give myself more latitude. I need to be gentler on myself, take more breaks and give up caffeine! It really helps when I do all three. Thanks for the reminder. First and foremost, you are the bestttt! I have been a long time follower of yours, but I have never commented or reached out.

Like somehow, I should be able to handle everything. This video was such a reassurance! Thank you SO much for the work you do in the world. It is so important. You are such a light! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your first comment, and a HUGE congrats from us on the engagement!! Oh Marie… I freaking loved this video! So damn true. There is always something new commanding attention. Thanks this was great to actually write out! One thing I do is make sure the things I do take on are super organized. Like reply to leads every Tuesday.

Only reply to clients on MWF. Marie has a point. My 3 Top Biz Priorities 1. Make Videos for my personal page 3. Schedule out Social Media Posts. My Top 3 Personal Goals 1. Talk to more people. Get out of my comfort zone 3. Get a crystal clear plan about how I want my life to be. I have the hardest time to say no to things… At least I should be able to prioritize. Personal: — Be in a committed relationship with the man of my dreams — Lose the extra weight with my amazing EFT weight loss program — Not fear hard work to reach my goals.

LOVE this creative and humorous approach to tackling it all. Being an entrepreneur, I get bombarded with should-ing on myself. No more baby! Hilarious and much needed advice! Did not expect the kicker at the end, very funny. I needed this today! My top three business priorities are: 1-update business cards, 2-create new brochures 3-update website. Personal: 1-move daily in some way 2-plan meals 3-have time with my husband.

This is exactly what I needed to hear this week as I was struggling with honing my feelings about a project I took on and later realized that this is not something I really want to spend so much time and energy doing. My three top business priorities: weekly updates on my website, following up with potential clients, delivering enjoyable and well thought out classes to my current students.

Three top personal priorities: daily reflection time journaling , meditation, and language learning and practice.

Three things to sing Big Sean to: reduce social media to once a day, checking and answering emails to twice a day, any other projects that are not aligned with what it is I want in life. I love and respect people who create personal productivity systems for themselves and share them with others. Anyway, my top 3 business priorities right now: writing books and blogs, building my mailing list, and learning things that will help me be better at this.

My personal ones: get rests, spend time with family, and be in a constantly loving, grateful, and not at all stressed state. My philosophy is similar, but I come from a deep background of economics so my decision on what to work on comes from my nerdiness. I will try to explain this in simple terms without getting into much economics. But what I like to say is this: if you are busy, then by definition you are not creating anything of value.

Let me explain, what are tasks that keep people busy? E-mail, social media, phone calls, small tasks like bookkeeping. In economics there is this idea that anything that is easily repeatable and scalable by definition is not valuable and therefore you will not get paid very much to do it. For a skill to be easily repeatable it must have a lot of people who can do it and a lot of people who can learn it quickly.

Social media can be learned quickly and has a lot of people to do it, so by definition, this skill and the value it creates is not high.

Not everyone can find market demand and create a blog that fills some existing need. This by definition is a highly valuable task, but not one that will keep you constantly busy.

I think the important thing is to cut out all of the tasks that yield no value and focus on the tasks that only bring value. You will find that you have less stress and you are doing more in less time. Saying NO was a bit challenging at the beginning, having a large family we are pulled a million ways. Now I focus on filling up my cup and sharing the overflow!!! My 3 top business priorities are: Sales and marketing RE acquisition Recruit top notch team players.

Business priorities: 1. Uninterrupted time to write 2. Find inspiration in blogs, magazines, books, fairs, showrooms, experts, mentors, masterpieces etc.

Day Job, I am talking to you 3. Personal life: 1. Spend quality time with the people I love the most 2. Keep a journal. LOVE this! Top 3 Personal Projects: -Fitness regimen and healthy juicing regimen…Yes! Twice a week! Top 3 Business Projects: retired and loving it!

Oooh, I must agree with Naomi at the top of this comment section! Marie thanks so much for creating this video because I believe we are living in a society pressured to juggle multiple things at one time. Business 1. Build subscribers for upcoming magazine 2. Finish book 3. Tweak Social Media Plan. Eat clean 4 days a week 2. Pray and Meditate daily 3. Travel and Network More. This is great! Sales reps are the worst at this and think that saying yes to everyone and everything is going to get them more business when actually it can backfire on you and possibly lose business!

Thank you Marie! I am really working on this same principle and also avoiding the noise from media in regards to all that is good or bad for you.

Very timely for me. Great reminder! My NO list: 1 to spend to much time on the FB, 2 to keep buying new courses, 3 to check emails all the time. Finish 2 books, find editor and designer.

The question still remains how to test my market to see if the books are what is really needed and will sell. Totally best vid ever Marie! Thanks for the affirmation, I recognize this in myself: No is a good word and simple is the best, Hehehe TY. Build my platform online 2.

Scrivener my e-book. I resisted the urge to comment earlier today, after being a little uninspired by this episode of MarieTV. This doesnt help me manage my time better and accomplish more. Thank you Marie!!

Awesome comment, Daniela! If anyone wants a daily planner I have an excellent daily one I designed for a workshop I run. I have a weekly and a daily version which sets up your 3 priorities, tasks even tracks your water intake and what fun thing you will do this evening.

Improving my automated system so my online business could flow more, which would save me a lot of time I could fill with…time for me. Getting my regular monthly blog posts done 3 weeks in advance to decrease my stress around deadlines. Thanks Marie for helping me get clear! I feel really positive about what I need to focus on now. I love how the universe works. They inspired me to create my own academy on self-mastery fundamentals towards creating a spirited-dynamic way of life for others.

I have had a lot of support from mentors in direct and indirect ways like watching Marie Forleo TV. I have been embracing both the light and dark side of becoming an entrepreneur which has been an amazing journey so far.

So many fascinating bright, shiny objects out there…. Personal Priorities 1 Express appreciation — to loved ones more than just in my mind 2 Practice yoga daily for 30 days 3 Create a stick-to-it-able schedule and stick to it. You seem like you do all those things mentioned in your video work, play, yoga, juice, dance, butter-n-toast, sleep, etc. LOVE this Marie!

Thanks for introducing some funky tunes to go with it as well, will definitely use this as my healthy reminder! This is great advice Marie. For instance, I just uprooted my life and moved to a new city. So coming to a new city and now knowing anyone makes me feel like everything that comes my way I should say YES to.

Because I need to build rapport in this new city. Great Q, Lindsey! One way to do that without going into overwhelm land is to dedicate a certain amount of time to networking opportunities per week or month and try to stick to that.

Or you can decide what your priorities are for networking and select your opportunities based on that — like if your goals are to meet other entrepreneurs, you might select certain events whereas if your goals are to meet potential customers or people in your specific industry, you might go to different ones. Thank you, Marie! Personal is yoga, French language and my sweet home to be organized and renewed.

And everything is possible and not stressing me out. Thank you for all advice on this show, they are very important. Very sad…. So sorry for the trouble, Claudia! Life priorities: 1- Enjoy my up coming time with my mom without being distracted or fearful of whats happening in my Biz 2- Eat dinner at he table with my husband 3- Get a good hair cut. I want to say F off to: 1- Posting to social media so often at the detriment to my actual work 2- Going to all 4 days of an up coming expo when I actually just want to go to 1 day.

Great priorities and F-offs, Rebecca! From today on — I am gonna say NO more often! Hi, I cannot watch the video in Germany because of some Gema regulation pertaining to the music you use in it :. Is there any way to solve that? You can find it on You Tube. Warning: Once you hear it, it will be difficult to get it out of your head! Unfortunately, this video cannot be watched in Germany : , it says that it contains music from UMG and terms have not been agreed by the country.

First time this happens with your videos though… Regards Tatiana. Top 3 business priorities: 1. Finishing my psychologist training without pressuring myself to do more than I can or want. Look out for future jobs what will allow me to work more with the positive aspects of the human psyche or maybe doctoral studies. Top 3 personal priorities: 1. Getting relaxed to sleep at night by not initiating any time or energy demanding activities 1 hour prior to going to bed which will take some planning.

Maybe painting or reading or taking a walk or take time to cook something nice. Being honest with myself and what I need to feel good — and letting myself take time to just relax. Negative thoughts about the future, doubting my abilities and likeability and so on.

Stressing with getting everything in place in our new apartment — it will come together, in time. Thank you, thank you! I was just having this discussion with my husband. And then your email. It was like an answer to my internal dialogues.

The timing was cosmic for sure. Loved your advice and your honesty! I especially loved all of the pictures of you that represent the many voices in our heads. Loved it! Thank you for all that you offer! So, my 3 business priorities are… Getting started—mainly website and licensing Getting work—marketing and sales Getting focused—quitting my full time job to focus on my business. My 3 personal priorities are… Spending more time with my daughter Getting the housework on an easier to maintain schedule Being more consistent with taking care of myself—eating right, working out, meditation.

No more church councils or time consuming things. Like Tim Ferris saying take a week off of technology. I went 5 days with no social media, no every-ten-minute googling a question, no compulsive email checking. It sounds like you have your hands full! As a super busy person myself, I totally hear you on finding things to drop without dropping self-care. This could not have come at a more perfect time for me!

You are one wise, talented, conscious woman. Thanks for sharing todays treasures. Lovely, Cheryl. This is just another awesome episode from you Marie. You just nailed it with the song. Love the way how you integrate humor with each of your suggestions. Your presentation is just super cool. Thanks for sharing Marie! I needed this one today! Thank you because your blog made me see that if I continue doing what someone else wants, that I will lose a part of myself along the way.

Great video, as always, Marie! Hi Laara, thank you for checking out our episode this week and sorry for any confusion! Hi, This was spot on and perfectly timed for me. I would love to know what you think of this perspective. And there are afterwords the following advances.

Love the video and every next Marie TV. Thank you so much! Marie, Such a precious episode! Thank you for being authentic, and honestly admitting that you are not even trying to fit all the busy chatters of the mind in the schedule. Simplicity is definitely a key! Three business non-negotiable priorities for me: 1. Create an on-going valuable content important: not to write or design social media posts, but actually have bullet points with ideas, and outsource writing, designing, and making it neat and pretty to someone, who can do it better that me 2.

Be in charge of marketing campaign ideas and new distribution outlets, and delegate crafting them and executing the plan to someone else. Constant learning of new strategies in business development. Three personal priorities: 1. Morning routine and preping myself for the day mentally and physically 2.

Daily movement exercise or connecting with Nature 3. Nutrition only real food. Committing to way more than I can chew, or at least schedule it rationally product manufacturing and delivery, I manufacture my own raw food bars. Over-scheduling the day Important vs Urgent is my king, thanks to your video, Marie! I will actually copy, paste and print what I just wrote here and put it in front of my computer for a daily reminder. So glad this episode was timely!

Awwww yay homey Marie!! Well said! Way to direct everyone to do what is best in their own lives and also say no to what is not feeling important in the moment. You nailed! I love ya! Keep it rolling sista! Great advice and reminded me that I need to say more a little bit more.

I find myself sometimes wanting to veer off. Thank you for the episode Marie. Am thrilled. Allow me to start by my top three personal priorities: 1. Meditation goes first as this touches the core of my life. It helps me connect with higher power for guidance and blessings.

Health — a health body bubbling with life allows me to do everything i want to do including the work that i do in the world without any stopping.

I need to be loyal always. Improve customer experience and exceed customer expectations. Increasing market readiness. Be sociable and work with colleagues well. In general i use priority classification to make sure i start with the more important work. That is immediate, urgent and normal. This is working for me and it leaves everything done at the end of the day. Not to worry — we found a workaround and I just sent you an email with a link to the episode so you can check it out!

Marie, great video! Your advice is very helpful for me. I was loosing my productivity and desire to do anything. This advice have changed my life! I stopped to feel so guilty. Really feeling overwhelmed right now and needed this messgae. Thank you for all that you do. As a Fine Art Student in Western Australia it is very hard to say no as is it like a big country town and everyone know everyone.

Finish my honors in Fine Arts in Perth in Continually work on my website to build an authentic audience that aligns with my artistic, entrepreneurial and personal vibes and values. Daily Deep Belly Breathing 2. Handstands 3. Telling my legs daily how much I love them Body part of the year for Omg Amber I would totally read that book!

I remember getting out of school and leaving my intense university job and not knowing who I was anymore. Fab idea! Great video today. I especially valued hearing that everything takes more time than we think. I am at the beginning of creating a chiropractic practice where I take care of people and animals and I have 2 kids of my own and am raising my niece and I have a husband and three cats, too. Slowing down my creative mind to consider three top priorities is the balance that I need in order to truly focus my attention on what needs to be.

The adults were competing in ski ball, racing games, basketball shoot outs and football throws. As parents, we could relax and have fun because of the super kid check program. We knew that no one was going to wander out of that restaurant because of the security measure in place.

To be able to just relax and enjoy ourselves as friends and adults was great. Everyone was delighted — dancing and singing along — when Chuck E. Cheese himself made an appearance to celebrate the birthday boy. It simply means letting someone else take care of it. Everything was so easy! I put together a little video montage of our time there. Take off the pressure you put on yourself.

Let someone else take care of the details. To follow along and find coupons and deals available at Chuck E. With all the kids in school, I thought I could do it all. Can you be the room mom this year? Want to do all the decorations for the school auction? Why not? Are you willing to lead Bible Study?

Do you want to continue working in the marriage ministry at church? Of course. I can host that baby shower! I can make that new mom a meal! I can bake cookies for church! I can do it all!! I have needed to schedule time to work on my blog, pay bills, and work on laundry. I really do believe we are at our best when we can put all of our focus on one activity at a time. Yesterday I was determined to find my kids Christmas outfits online. Meanwhile my kids needed help with homework, snacks needed to get made and Christmas had vomited in our living room, calling for me to finish decking the halls.

Suddenly, I was short and snapping at my kids. No one finished their homework. In parenting, I need to learn to stop multi-tasking and put all of my focus in one place. Parenting is a selfless pursuit. Despite our self-centeredness, we often neglect ourselves. Everyone comes first, and we no longer pursue some of the things that make us tick — whether it be art, fitness, dance, photography, knitting or literature. However, make sure that you are not neglecting yourself.

Prioritize, remove the pressure, know when to say no, stop multi-tasking and take time for self-care. You will be treasured more for the simple moments of love you pour out by truly listening to, caring for and engaging with those you love. I could plan every minute of the day, all the whole group and small group instruction, and all the subject areas that I need to cover. Technically, I can fill every minute with learning, but the reality is that our students need downtime, too. I have learned that they need an ebb and flow to their day just as much as I do.

In what ways have you learned to prioritize your teaching, your learning and let go of your perfectionism? Thank you for this post! This is what I needed. I am going through this right now as well. Letting go of my perfectionism and let things go. I am also struggling with work and home life balance. This article has been very helpful. Thank you! I could use some pointers. I am currently studying to be a teacher. I love your blog, by the way.

It makes me feel slightly less intimidated by the prospect of teaching. I needed to hear that! I spent the first few weeks frustrated with not feeling like I was doing a good job. Your post is a great reminder to be nice to myself. This blog was helpful but when I went to enter my information for the download, you did not include Kindergarten!

Thanks for letting me know! For some reason the form needed to be reset. It was there, but not listed. I needed to hear this. After 19 years of teaching, I am feeling the most stress I felt in years. We have a new ELA curriculum and it is kicking my butt trying to get everything in. Thanks for the advice. Your email address will not be published.
