Cliff Marrero answered. There was survivors, breakdown is as follows: 1st class: ; 2nd class: ; 3rd class; crew: It was very sad but the rule was that woman and children must get on the life boats.
So it was mostly men who died. Also more 3rd class passengers died because they were trapped in the bottom of the boat by locked gates. More 1st class passengers survived due to their freedom of being able to be on the main decks.
Don't joke about this incident, how would you feel if all your family members died, but you survived, only to become an orphan?
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like it at all. So really, more people's lives were ruined than is suggested by the number of lives taken on the Titanic. Source: Encyclopedia-titanica. There were 2, people on the ship. There were crew who died, including Captain Edward John Smith. There were a total of people, but people died over half!
There were 2, people on board the R. S Titanic at the time of the sinking. Unfortunately, only people survived.
The Carpathia rescued the people who were found in the very few lifeboats. El Nino answered. There was a total of people on board the Titanic , and of those people , died , leaving survivors.
I have read many estimates, but the number that appears most regularly is deaths. There were 2, on board. Out of those people, 1, died. There were only people who survived. Josh H answered. A little over people died when the Titanic sank. No, there were 2, passengers and, yes, 1, died. It was a lot of people, but when that disaster happened, and when they saw the iceberg, why didn't they just stop the ship? Many different factors all contributed to the number of Titanic survivors as well as the strange and tragic tale of the largest peacetime maritime disaster in history.
The largest percentage of survivors was women and children in first and second class. Many accommodations and being closer to the deck allowed these individuals to make a quick escape to the lifeboats which were in short supply.
A locked gate separating second and third class made it more difficult for those in third class to reach the deck while there was still sufficient lifeboat space.
Men in third class experienced the largest fatality rate. Most of the crew was also lost during the sinking of the Titanic. Out of the crew members on board, went down with the ship. Titanic survivors were mostly men and women. All the children from first and second class survived, while most of the loss of child life came from third class.
The Titanic had the capacity to hold 32 lifeboats, but this was not mandatory under maritime law of the time. As far as the Titanic was concerned, the 20 lifeboats aboard the Titanic were actually exceeding regulation. This, however, raises an important question: exactly how many people survived the titanic disaster after all? By all accounts, only out of the 2, passengers on board the legendary vessel survived, most of them being women and children. As a rule, it was the first class who first made their way into the lifeboats and there is plenty of historical evidence suggesting that third class passengers were the last to be loaded into the lifeboats.
Even so, it was mostly the women and children of third class who got to the boats, but very few of them compared to first class passengers. Speaking of survivors, it was the women and children of second class who made up the largest percentage of survivors, mainly due to them being close to the deck. Due to their immediate proximity to the deck, most of them managed to make a quick escape to the lifeboats before the crew had a chance to object. By comparison, the largest fatality rate was that of men in the third class.
As for the crew, members went down with the ship out of a total working on board. Speaking of staff members, the famous story of band members singing throughout the tragedy has recently been debunked as being nothing more than an urban myth.
